Orion is installed with two lexicons: LEGAL.DCT and ORION.DCT. LEGAL.DCT cannot be modified and words cannot be added to it. ORION.DCT is a supplemental dictionary and is simply an ASCII file to which items can be edited and added. During the spell check process, if you choose to add a word to the dictionary, ORION.DCT is the file that gets updated. The ORION.DCT file is held in a public folder and by default is used by everyone in the firm. If you would prefer, you can set one or more Users to utilize a private supplemental dictionary instead of the shared ORION.DCT supplemental dictionary. This is done through the Manage Users program and is set up on an User basis. In other words, some Users can be set up to save words to and read their own private dictionary, and some can be set up to save words to and read the shared dictionary. You cannot set them up to save/read to both a private and the shared supplemental dictionary.
To set up an User to use a private dictionary, open File Maintenance Manager and choose TOOLS, Manage Users. The following screen will appear:

Place a check mark in the Use Private Dictionary option and click the SAVE Button. The first time the User “adds” a word during the spell check process, Orion will create a file named userdictionary.dct in the User’s \appdata\orion\shared folder. The next time the User runs a spell check, Orion uses the contents of LEGAL.DCT and USERDICTIONARY.DCT to compare the spelling of the words in their Fee Descriptions.
