If all you want to do is to change the User’s last name, you just need to call up the User Record (File Maintenance Manager, TOOLS, Manage Users) and change the Name and Sort Name fields. The only data file this impacts is the User data file. If you want to change the User’s ID, you can do that as well but the User would need to be out of the system. To change the User’s ID, first change the User’s name as described above and save the changes. Open the User record back up and choose TOOLS, Change ID. Enter the new ID you want to use and click Change ID. NOTE – this process can take a while because it has to go through all data files and make the change (fees, expenses, payment applications, invoice and AR records). The User should also be out of the system for the change in ID.
If you plan on changing the User’s Network Login ID to reflect the name change, you will need to make an additional change on the User record. Once you have changed the User’s Network Login ID on the system, open the User record in Orion and access the Administration Tab. Enter the User’s new network ID in the Network Login ID field. Save your changes. Once the change to the Network Login ID is made on your network, the User will be unable to enter Orion until you change this value on the User’s Orion User record.
