Orion Crashing for One User

This could certainly be a variety of issues but the error most seen related to it is:

“Persistent Error: Unable to Retrieve Object List, [Pervasive][ODBC Client Interface][Client LNA]Your connection to the server is no longer working. To continue, disconnect from the data source and re-connect again. Contact your system administrator if you still need assistance. Cannot name the component.”

 

One common thread with the users is that they are leaving Orion up for long periods of time.  Usually the errors are reported with the program being up for 20 hours or more where they are leaving it open overnight.  The computer could be going into power saver mode where it cuts the network connection.  This option can be found in the Windows Control Panel—>Device Manager—->Right click on NIC Card driver and go to properties.  Once there go to advanced tab.  Uncheck the “Allow computer to turn off this device”

 

 

Another possibility is that a backup of the data is running at night which disconnects the users from the files. 

Try to get the user to shutdown the Orion program when they leave and start it up in the morning.  If they continue to get random errors contact Orion support for help.
