iOrion® Contest Announcement

This webinar was hosted by Mike Marget of 4L Law Firm Services. 4L performs outsourced book-keeping, billing and CFO services for small/midsize law firms. Be on the lookout for more webinar announcements, and feel free to email Mike with any questions.

 

Mike Marget will also be making a presentation titled Top 10 Mistakes Law Firms Continue to Make to the Houston Association of Legal Administrators Chapter on April 16th at the Four Seasons Hotel. Mike’s presentation has received CLM accreditation and is scheduled to begin at 3:30 PM.

 

4L’s Client base expands next month with the addition of Foreman & Friedman, P.A., a firm with 26 lawyers based in Miami, FL and Northbrook, IL. The law firm will begin using Orion’s Financial Management Software, with 4L providing bookkeeping, billing and CFO services to the firm on an outsourcing basis.

 

4L is also excited to announce the addition of a new staff member, Devin Mora, who has 6.5 years experience as a “Billing Specialist” at Holland & Knight LLP. Devin worked at H&K’s Centralized Billing Department in Tampa where he converted pre-bills to final invoice form and electronic invoice delivery for the law firm’s 1,000+ lawyers.

Financial Management

 

I am unable to generate an invoice due to an unapplied/unposted payment. However, I have no Accounts Receivable in which to apply the transaction. What do I need to do?

 

Orion requires all accounting transactions that have been through an invoicing cycle be applied and posted before a new invoice can be generated on the Matter. A problem occurs if there is no accounts receivable to which you can apply the transaction. In the past, you would have to determine what invoice the transaction appeared on, unpost and void that invoice, potentially reverse other payments, etc. Now there is a way in the system to change the accounting transaction back to the state of not having been through an invoicing cycle so you can either delete the transaction or generate a new invoice…

Practice Management

 

Our Firm just began using Orion’s Exchange Sync. How can I assign a Client/Matter to multiple Appointments that were just synced from Outlook to Orion, without clicking on each one individually?

 

To change settings for multiple Tasks/Appointments, you’ll need to open the Advanced Event Viewer from your left tool bar.

 

Once opened, change your view to “Filter”.

 

Now you’ll need to fill out this screen. If you are making edits just for yourself, select “Current Person” under the Assigned window on the right. If you are doing this for a different user, you’ll need to select his or her name off the available field and then press right red arrow sending their name over to the selected column…
