To disable the Auto Assign Feature for the Client Number, go into File Maintenance Manager and choose TOOLS, System Settings. Change the value in the Next Client Number field to -1. Note that even when the system auto assigns a Client Number, you can overwrite it before saving the Client record as long as you use a number not already in use.
