The Purge History option simply removes the record of the searches from the Conflicts window. Orion displays who does a search, if there was a hit, and the words searched for on the screen. The history is not the record of the Client-Matters on which a hit was found and not if there is a conflict (that has to be determined by the attorney). It is meant to be a record of who is performing searches for the firm, if they were done, and if “any” hits were found. It can be used as a cross check by an administrator or Conflicts person to determine if Users are properly performing searches on a regular basis. If a firm is allowing attorneys to do their own searches it allows firms to monitor if they are being done. The search history window is not meant to be a substitute for actually storing a printed record of the Conflict Search results.
This data needs to be printed at the time the search is done and stored either in PDF form or printed and placed in a file jacket as a record of the Conflicts check.
