Matter Re Expanding the Number of Lines of Description that Print on Invoice

Print this article

You may edit the Style to include additional description lines.  Field objects AdditionalDesc1 through AdditionalDesc9  9 lines of description are available to be placed on the invoice format.

Go to Billing Manager > Tools > Invoice Styler, click on the Style you want to edit, click on the Invoice Tab at the bottom of the screen, then click on the DBText button and click on the location where you want to place your new object. Set the properties for the object by clicking on it and making sure it says Data on the far left data-pipeline lookup. It should say AdditionalDesc5 in your field selection lookup.

Drag the object into the Line Container that contains the other lines of the matter record, and place it where you need it. You may need to right click on the Line Container around it and increase its size prior to dragging your objects into it.

Note that it is always advisable to make a copy of your Invoice Style and test it first. Be aware that is possible that you have “extra notes” in the matter record that you do not want to show the Client on lines 5 through 9, and if you do not want the Client to see the notes, you should always look at your Invoices prior to sending them. If you have private notes in the Matter record in lines 5 through 9, you may not want to make this edited Invoice Style the default for all Matters.

Note that it is not recommended that you attempt to edit Styles on your own if you are not familiar with the Orion Invoice Styler.  Editing Invoice Styles or correcting Invoice Styles that that firm has modified is considered a billable service by Orion.
