This TAP was created in AP and Cannot Be Partially Applied

Print this article

Orion is giving you this error message because you have used a TAP in the distribution line of a paid Voucher in AP presumably to create a check payable to the firm out of trust for services rendered.  If you do not properly apply the TAP for the full amount against an invoice in AR manager it will return this message.

You can either call up the AR transaction in AR Manager and apply the full amount of the TAP to existing invoices or if you don’t have an existing invoice in that amount your other options are:

Option 1

Void the check and reissue it in the right amount.  When you do the void, the system will create a TDP with a note that it came from an AP adjustment and put the money back into the trust account on the client ledger.

Or

Option 2

If the TAP has not already appeared on an invoice, you may try the following:

After having removed the applications on the AR transaction, you may call up the Voucher in AP manager and then use Tools > Adjust Voucher, delete the distribution line with the TAP and reenter it for the correct amount that you want to apply.

You would need to enter another distribution line using a TDS code for the difference because the total Voucher amount has to remain the same.  You may want to make a note that this is a correction of an incorrect trust disbursement amount.  This will create a new TAP transaction in AR Manager that you then may apply for the correct amount.

You would then need to do a TDP in AR Manager to put the “difference” back into the trust account on the Client-Matter if that is appropriate.

Note: You can not void a Voucher or delete a distribution that contains a TAP that has already appeared on an Invoice generated in Billing Manager. If you try, you will receive a warning that you must first void the Invoice on which the TAP has appeared.

The firm determines the proper manner in which to handle TAPs that have been entered with incorrect amounts.
