There are several steps involved with fixing this problem. First and foremost, if the TAP created by the original voucher has been invoiced, you will have to unpost and void the invoice. After that (or if the TAP had not been invoiced), take the following steps.
1. Open AP Manager and call up the voucher that created the TAP. Once displayed, choose TOOLS, Adjust Voucher.
2. Edit the line of distribution that created the TAP and change the amount to $1,000.00.
3. Add a new line of distribution for the client-matter but use a TDS code and $500.00 as the amount.
4. Post the Voucher Adjustment.
5. Open AR Manager and enter a RDP on the client-matter dated the original date of the TAP.
6. Go back into AP Manager and enter a voucher on the Operating Account. Distribute the voucher to the same client-matter and use a RDS Code.
7. Pay the voucher and deposit the check into the Trust Account.
8. In AR Manager, enter a TDP on the client-matter equal to the amount of the check just written and deposited into the Trust Account.
Note: If the initial TAP had already updated Bank Rec, you will need to either enter a transaction on the check side of the operating account OR flag the new RDP as having already updated the bank account (right click, Assign Bank Rec ID).
